"Low-Force" Treatment

My philosophy of employing the lowest level of energy to maximum effect in any situation encouraged me to develop a gentle means of treating acute and chronic (long-standing) conditions of the joints and soft tissues. The amount of "force" used in these techniques can be compared to the expelled air from a shallow breath, so low in fact, that patients are unaware that they have been treated until re-examination confirms an increase in mobility and a reduction of pain. The techniques are absolutely specific and have made it possible to safely treat children, the elderly, the apprehensive, the pregnant, those in extreme pain, and conditions where other osteopathic methods would be contra-indicated, or inappropriate.

Patients are not required to assist in their treatment by adopting a particular position except by lying comfortably; neither are they required to use any muscular effort, be twisted, compressed, or have their joints "clicked". Each patient is treated as an individual, their psychological and physiological condition is considered in the choice and application of treatment, in rehabilitation and in prophylaxis (prevention).

My techniques are designed to promote the quickest possible recovery, without causing additional strain on already damaged tissues. The emphasis is on safely reducing joint stiffness and relieving pain, so that the patient can return to normal as quickly as nature will permit. I do not book a course of treatment for any patient; I examine before and after each treatment to assess progress, which enables me to discharge patients as soon as it is safe to do so.
